Masher
Video Compression Technology
Description:
MASHER is designed specifically with the needs of the video game/multimedia developer in mind.
MASHER operates in 16 bit color resolution only, which, with its unique real-time dithering, produces excellent
image quality, compression size, speed of compression and playback.
The MASHER toolkit consists
of:-
MASHER.EXE- a compressor/player application, which allows BMP/WAV files or AVIs to be compressed
into our proprietary .DDV file format.
-
MASHER.LIB- a low level library, which can be called by the developer's application to decode the
compressed .DDV file video and audio.
-
MASHPLAY.CPP- a high level interface module, which can be linked with the developer's application
to play back .DDV files with a single call.
-
MASHPLAY.EXE- a simple source code example player, demonstrating how to integrate MASHER into an
application. The toolkit is designed to work with Visual C++ and Win95/98 only. It is possible to play back
MASHER files in a window without using Direct X, but the compressor/player and examples all use Direct X.
The downloadable demo consists of the MASHER.EXE program, which allows
developers to test out the performance of MASHER on their own test examples. The other parts of the toolkit
are necessary to integrate MASHER playback into an application, and are available for a low license fee
(see pricing).
